How should I be backing up my EHD in case of disaster? I feel nervous about all my photos beings on an easily lost EHD as opposed to the 'big' macbook! More EHDs? I don't use iCloud etc.Ĥ. Ive purchased a 1TB EHD and formatted it to Mac OS Extended (journaled).

Here I create a folder name Photos on C: drive. Create a folder on your computer and put all the photos you want to transfer in this folder.

Make sure it can be detected by the computer. Originally I was planning on having iPhoto backed up on an EHD and still running it on my macbook, and deleting some files to free up space, but this probably isn't going to help in the long run as I take lots of photos/videos on my iPhone along with DSLR and camcorder. Turn on the computer and connect the external hard drive. My Macbook Pro is full!! I have 1GB of storage left and I think the answer is to move iPhoto to an external hard drive - I have read through a number of posts about this on here already, but they don't all fully answer my questions. Does IDrive support backup of files / folders from network / external drives I am backing up an external network drive to my IDrive account.
